January 9, 2017 BUF Black Lives Matter Team Meeting Minutes

Business: Mary Alden will do "An Eracism Minute" on 1/22/17
David recommended we all call Maria Cantwell & Patty Murray to urge them to vote no to Jeff Sessions as Trump's appointment to US Attorney General.
Next meeting: Monday, January 23, 6 pm
Program: We discussed Racist Attitudes #3: Reverse Racism and #4 Blame the Victim from http://www.culturalbridgestojustice.org/resources/written/detour
Themes: Fear is motivation for racism; no consensus of a definition for racism; fear has been used for manipulation; media fuels "fear of other;" denial of racism; deflection from the problem; need to listen to victims, address conflict.
